Loving a Perfectly Imperfect Sweater

For a couple of years I have had my eye on a Tahki sweater knit in 8 different colors of 127 Print. The pattern itself is very simple. It is knit from sleeve to sleeve in 4x4 rib, seamed, and then the turtleneck and bottom ribbing are picked up and knit 2x2. I just love how the colors play out in the stripes, and I figured it would be a sweater I would have lots of fun wearing.

Well, I started the sweater shortly after we moved to Indiana in the fall, but it had to take a back seat to some model projects for my mom's shop and to some Christmas projects. Finally I am closing in on the finishing touches, and I’m determined to wear it when I’m in Spokane next week to teach a couple of classes. There are a number of flaws that bother me, but I am not going to enumerate them here. Most importantly, it fits, I love the colors, and it’s just about done. I can live with that.

After all, I simply cannot think of project that I was 100% satisfied with, that I couldn’t find at least one little thing I would have liked to have been a little different. Not a one. But that’s not to say there haven’t been some projects that I absolutely love. I am trying to accept that knitting projects have peccadillos, just like us, as much as we try to eliminate them.

I'm so delighted you've started a blog. You're always knitting something interesting and this is a great way to keep us all up to date on what you're working on.

Like this sweater. I've seen the sweater on you and it's even more vibrant in real life than in these pictures. What yarn did you use?
