Spokane Roundup

I'm lagging behind in my posts and must catch up. On February 14th I returned from a week in Spokane, where I was teaching several classes at A Grand Yarn. Notice the pics of my lovely students! I taught two session of the double-knitted scarf and three sessions of the beaded scarf. The students were enthusiastic and fun, and I had a great time. My visits to Spokane are always a bit bittersweet in that I love being there but it makes me miss it even more. Alas.

It just so happened that the day I was to supposed to return to Indiana (February 13), a huge snowstorm hit the Midwest. So my plane was diverted to Nashville, where I spent the evening in a Radisson. The experience was an important reminder to always have a couple of knitting projects in one's carry-on bag. One passenger I kept running into (who, incidentally, was the most chipper and undisturbed passenger on the whole plane), continued to say to me, "I bet you're going to finish knitting that by the time we get to Chicago." You would think I could have, but it didn't happen. That's due mainly to the fact that I ended up spending more time reading Friday Night Knitting Club, although that should still fall into the knitting category. I enjoyed it for a light read, but I have to say it suffered from some cliche afflictions. Now I'm beginning The Knitting Circle, which I imagine will be quite good.

I am trying to motivate myself to finish some unfinished projects, including a Classic Elite Potpourri shrug I started last summer and just need to put together and a mistake rib throw I started maybe two years ago. I love the look of it and enjoy knitting it, so I don't know how it fell so low on the list of priorities. Anyway, it will get done, I tell you.

Right now I am finishing up a Wonderful Wallaby class and beginning an Elizabeth Zimmerman Ribwarmer Vest class at Sheep's Clothing. I have a great group of ladies, and I'm sure pictures will follow soon.
