So I am working away on a stripes sweater from the new
Rowan Magazine. It is a model for my mom's shop, and I am just loving working on it. The yarn is Rowan Cotton Glace. We changed the ribbing colors a bit, since we thought the magazine version looked a little washed out. I am using red and light blue in the ribbing instead of pink and light blue. We learned at market in January that the nautical look very in this season (and isn't nautical a classic anyway that always kind of in for spring?), so I'm jumping on that ship, so to speak. I will finish the back today. Now my brain is fixated on the number 8, what with the sweater stripes being 8 rows. I imagine 8 more rows, 8 more minutes of sleep, 8 more pages of
The Knitting Circle, 8 more of those delicious Easter candy-coated sunflower seeds beckoning me from the candy dish. Strange what stripes can do to a girl.
I went to Chicago yesterday after dropping my husband off at the airport and finally did a bit of a Chicago yarn shop exploration. I went to Knitting Workshop, Knit 1, Arcadia Knitting, and Close Knit (which, as it turned out, was closed). All of them had a very nice selection, and I had a great time wandering Chicago on my own. Knit 1 was right next to a Trader Joe's, which was an added bonus. Come to think of it, I bought 8 items. No joke.
Housework is calling...but then so is my Rowan sweater. We all know who will win.
